2nd Grade Math Help

There is a huge range of worksheets on our website to help your child, or to help you as an educator, with any math problems you are having. Please feel free to browse our site, and hopefully you will find the help and support you need.

There are also links to helpful pages on our website and forums on other websites which may be able to offer you the support you need.

Here are our top 5 tips for helping your child with their math learning.

Top 5 tips for helping your child with their math learning

  1. Listen to your child and try to find out exactly what the problem is.
  2. Once you have identified the problem area, have a chat with your child's teacher, or someone supportive who can help.
  3. Try to split it up into several small steps and put those steps in order with the easiest one first.
  4. Take a step at a time, and keep talking to your child about how they are finding it.
  5. Keep reviewing back and looking at the progress they have made, and what the next step is going to be. Your child needs to feel involved in this learning cycle.

Sometimes, there may be a specific question or problem your child might be having with their math work that you can't seem to help with.

It might also be that you feel your child is not making the amount of progress they should be, and you are worried that they may be falling behind.

However, remember that children do not progress at a constant rate, and that sometimes they need time to assimilate and consolidate the learning they already have before they move on.

Please feel free to ask any for any 2nd grade math help on the forum at the bottom of the page - we cannot promise to get back to you straightaway, but hopefully you will get a response from somone within a reasonable timeframe.
