Welcome to the Math Salamanders 4th Grade Math Practice Worksheets.

Here you will find a wide range of free Math Worksheets which will help your child to learn to use inequalities, multiples and factors at a 4th grade level.

These sheets have been designed to support your child with their learning of inequalities, multiples and factors.

The sheets are graded in order of difficulty with the easiest sheet coming first in each section.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

- Use the symbols > , < , and = correctly for equality and inequality;
- Know and understand what a multiple is and how to apply this;
- Know and understand what a factor is and how to apply this;
- Develop and practice their mental calculation skills.

All the free 4th Grade Math Practice Worksheets in this section support the Elementary Math Benchmarks for 4th Grade.

INEQUALITIES

There are two main symbols used to express an inequality:

- > the greater than symbol;
- < the less than symbol.

One way to remember the symbol is to think of it as a greedy mouth. The mouth will always try to eat the biggest number.

Examples

54 > 39

17 < 25

MULTIPLES

If a number is a multiple of another number, it means that it can be made out of adding groups of the other number together.

Examples

12 is a multiple of 4 because 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 (or 4 x 3 = 12)

27 is a multiple of 9 because 9 + 9 + 9 = 27 (or 9 x 3 = 27)

17 is not a multiple of 4 because it cannot be made by adding groups of 4 together.

FACTORS

A number is a factor of another number if it divides into it with no remainder.

In other words any number will always be divisible by all of its factors.

It is the opposite of a multiple.

Examples

12 is a multiple of 4 so 4 is a factor of 12 (12 is also divisible by 4)

27 is a multiple of 9 so 9 is a factor of 27.

7 x 4 = 28 so 7 and 4 are both factors of 28 (and 28 is also divisible by both 7 and 4)

Multiples

Using riddles is a great way to get children to apply their place value and number knowledge to solve problems.

It is also a good way to get children working collaboratively and talking about the language together.

You can also get the children to choose one of the numbers in the riddle and ask each other questions.

The sheets in this section cover similar areas to the worksheets on this page but are at an easier level.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

- round a number to the nearest 10, 100 or 1000;
- use the > and < symbols correctly for inequalities;
- use multiples and apply them to solve problems.
