How to complete our Digit Place Value worksheets

When look at the place value of a digit, using a place value chart can often help us work this out.

Example: What is the place value of the underlined digit in this number: 652,308

We know that the digit is a 5, but what is the place value of the digit?

By writing the number in a place value chart, we can see that it is in the ten thousands column.

The digit is a 5, so it has a value of 5 ten thousands or 50,000.

More Examples of Digit Place Value

  • 236 → the value of the underlined digit is 30.
  • 814 → the value of the underlined digit is 800.
  • 4816 → the value of the underlined digit is 6.
  • 9703 → the value of the underlined digit is 9000.
  • 3.57 → the value of the underlined digit is 0.5.
  • 3,824,129 → the value of the underlined digit is 800,000
  • 72.94 → the value of the underlined digit is 0.04
