How to Convert a Fraction to a Decimal Support Page

Fraction to Decimal Converter
If you want to convert a fraction into a decimal, please use the calculator below.
To enter a fraction, you have to enter the numerator followed by '/' followed by the denominator. E.g. 4/5 or 23/7
To enter a mixed fraction, first type the whole number followed by space followed by the numerator followed by '/' followed by the denominator. E.g. 3 1/4 (3 and a quarter).

Converting Fractions to Decimal Form
To convert a fraction to a decimal, you need to understand that the fraction sign — and the division sign ÷ are actually the same!
So in other words: a b = a ÷ b
If you use a calculator, it is quite easy to convert a fraction into a decimal. If you do not have a calculator, you can still convert a fraction into a decimal using long (or short) division.
How to convert a fraction to a decimal
Examples
Example 1) Convert 3 8 to a decimal.
We calculate 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375.
So we now have:
3 8 = 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375
Example 2) Convert 9 20 to a decimal.
We calculate 9 ÷ 20 = 0.45.
So we now have
9 20 = 9 ÷ 20 = 0.45
