We have a range of different challenges, games and activities to enjoy which mainly focus on addition and subtraction skills.
These sheets all involve using adding or subtracting skills to color the numbers on the grid to make the Chrismas picture.
The image shown is the image that will be made when the sheet is colored in.
Here are some block coordinate sheets with a Christmas theme. The answer sheets are shown as thumbnails.
The sheets use coordinates where the horizontal axis is a letter and the vertical axis a number.
Each coordinate needs to be identified and then shaded the correct color.
These Christmas adding worksheets involve adding the values of the pictures together.
Challenge 3A involves adding up to 4 values within 40.
Challenge 3B involves adding up to 4 values (multiples of 10) within 180.
Challenge 3C and 3D involves using the totals of the rows and reasoning about numbers to work out the values of the four pictures. These sheets are at a more advanced level and require more reasoning skills.
In this 3rd grade Christmas math challenge, the aim is to find the path through the maze that makes the correct total.
As you go through the maze, you add up the numbers in each snowflake.
Each maze has a different target total to try to make.
These 3rd grade Christmas math worksheets are all about adding pairs of numbers.
Each 'leaf' of the Christmas tree is equal to the sum of the two leaves under it.
So you have to add up each pair of leaves underneath to find the totals above.
Puzzle 3A involves adding pairs of numbers within 35.
Puzzle 3B involves adding pairs of numbers up to 50 and multiples of 10 up to 280.
Puzzle 3C involves adding pairs of numbers and finding differences within 50.
Puzzle 3D involves adding pairs of numbers and finding differences within 70.
Puzzles 3E involves using reasoning and trial and improvement strategies to investigate number patterns.
If you want children to challenge themselves, then get them to use our Christmas Tree Challenge template and choose their own numbers to put on the bases of the trees and then fill them in with their own values.
This 3rd grade Christmas math puzzle is all about counting on and back in different size steps.
Each time you move in one direction in the puzzle, you have to add or subtract a certain number.
Each time you move in a different direction, you add or subtract a different number.
Puzzle 3A involves counting on by 5s and back by 3s.
Puzzle 3B involves counting on by 9s and counting back by 4s.
Whilst these games have not been specifically designed for 3rd graders, we have included them as we feel they will help to develop their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills, as well as mental arithmetic.
Mission Rudolf is a strategy game for two players.
The aim of the game is for one player to try to get Rudolf across the Arctic ice to the North Pole.
The other player controls the abominable snowmen who have to try to stop and capture Rudolf.

Freeze the Snowman has been warmed up too much.
The aim of the game is to get him back to 0°C. Each turn, players can take away
either 0°C, 1°C,2°C, 3°C, or 4°C.
The player who gets him back to 0°C is the winner!
This game is very simple to play, but can involve a lot of strategy at a higher level!
Freeze the Snowman Game 2 is a harder version of Game 1, with subtraction up to -10°C.

Christmas Tree 3 Dice Cover Up is a dice game for children from about 3rd grade and upwards.
The aim of this Christmas math game is to use the numbers on the dice, along with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to make different numbers on the board. The player who has covered up most of the numbers on the tree at the end of the game is the winner.
