Count and Graph Worksheets

Count and Graph worksheets involve turning a set of data into a bar chart where each square or rectangle represents one object.

So if the data contains the same object six times, then 6 squares of the bar chart are shaded.

Count and Graph activities are a good way to develop systematic counting and recording skills to ensure that no objects have been left out.

Let's look at an example of a Count and Graph sheet.

The table below contains the data which involves different types of fruit.

In this example, we can see that there are a total of:

• 2 bananas
• 4 apples
• 3 oranges
• 1 plum

All we need to do is to record the number of each fruit by shading in the correct number of rectangles in the bar graph.

The finished bar graph shows the same data from the table recorded in a systematic way.

The worksheets have been split up into different sections according to the theme.

• Sheets 1 and 1A are at an easier level, with fewer objects to count. There are up to 6 objects in each category.
• Sheets 2 and 2A are harder with more objects to count. There are up to 8 objects in each category.
