Here you will find a selection of 2nd and 3rd Grade Addition sheets designed to help your child improve their mental addition skills.

The sheets involve different skills to solve and have been set out in different ways to give more variety and interest.

The sheets are graded so that the easier ones are at the top.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

  • learn their addition facts to 20;
  • learn addition facts to 20+20;
  • learn how to solve addition sums where one of the addends is missing, but the total is given.

Addition Facts to 20 Worksheets

We have split the sheets into 3 sections:

  • the first section contains addition within 20 worksheets for 2nd graders
  • the second section contains addition up to 20+20 worksheets for 3rd graders (or 2nd graders who want a challenge!)
  • the third section contains a range of fun math puzzles with a focus on addition facts.

Here is a quick breakdown of the content of the sheets, with the easier sheets coming first:

  • Sheet 1 has a number track to support the addition.
  • Sheet 2 is similar to sheet 1 but with no number track and more questions.
  • Sheet 3 has sets of 3 addends to add up.
  • Sheets 4 and 5 have missing addends in the addition equation.
  • Sheet 6 has an addition grid to complete with the numbers in the grid missing.
  • Sheet 7 has an addition grid with numbers both inside and outside the grid to fill in.

Addition Facts to 20+20 Worksheet

The following sheets involve different activities to help children learn their addition facts up to 20+20.

Here is a quick breakdown of the math addition facts worksheets:

  • Sheet 1 has a number track up to 40 to support addition.
  • Sheet 2 is similar to sheet 1 but with no track and more questions.
  • Sheet 3 has missing addends in the addition equation.
  • Sheets 4 and 5 have addition grids up to 20+20 to fill in.
  • Sheet 6 has an addition grid with numbers both on the inside and outside of the grid to complete.

Second Grade Math Puzzles

The puzzles will help your child practice and apply their addition, subtraction and multiplication facts as well as developing their thinking and reasoning skills in a fun and engaging way.

  • learn and practice subtraction facts to 20;
  • pratice multiplying up to 5x5;

Addition Facts to 20 Online Quiz

Our quizzes have been created using Google Forms.

At the end of the quiz, you will get the chance to see your results by clicking 'See Score'.

This will take you to a new webpage where your results will be shown. You can print a copy of your results from this page, either as a pdf or as a paper copy.

For incorrect responses, we have added some helpful learning points to explain which answer was correct and why.

We do not collect any personal data from our quizzes, except in the 'First Name' field which is optional. We collect this information so that if a class of students is taking a quiz, the individual results can be recorded along with the first name of the student.

We also collect the results from the quizzes which we use to help us to develop our resources.

If the error message 'File Unavailable' should appear in a pop-up window with a 'RELOAD' option in the bottom right corner of the screen:

  • Don't click the RELOAD link - it doesn't do anything
  • click anywhere on the screen but not inside the pop-up window
  • the pop-up window should disappear and you should be able to see your results.
  • NB. This error is a Google error in the Google Quiz app - it is currently unresolved!
