Place Value to 20

The sheets in this section are the first step on the way to understanding place value.

First we learn place value up to 20, where numbers from 11 to 20 are represented as a block of 10 and some ones.

It is important at this stage for children to see things both ways round - that a number such as 15 can be split into a Ten and 5 Ones, and also that a Ten and 5 Ones represents the number 15.

Following this we learn our place value with any 2-digit-number, representing them as tens and ones.
