Welcome to our Convert Fractions to Decimal support page.
Here you will find information and support about how to convert a fraction into a decimal.
Our fraction to decimal calculator will convert any fractions to a decimal and you can choose what degree of accuracy you wish.
To convert a fraction to a decimal, you need to understand that the fraction sign — and the division sign ÷ are actually the same!
So in other words: a b = a ÷ b
If you use a calculator, it is quite easy to convert a fraction into a decimal. If you do not have a calculator, you can still convert a fraction into a decimal using long (or short) division.
Example 1) Convert 3 8 to a decimal.
We calculate 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375.
So we now have:
3 8 = 3 ÷ 8 = 0.375
Example 2) Convert 9 20 to a decimal.
We calculate 9 ÷ 20 = 0.45.
So we now have
9 20 = 9 ÷ 20 = 0.45
Example 3) Convert 4 1 5 to a decimal.
We calculate 1 ÷ 5 = 0.2.
So we now have
4 1 5 = 4 + (1 ÷ 5) = 4 + 0.2 = 4.2
