By the time children get to preschool, most of them will be able to count up to 20, and some of them may reach quite a bit higher.

However, what many of them will not be able to do is to write numbers and count a specific number of objects.

They need to learn 1:1 correspondence and to have a system for counting where they count each object once and once only without missing any out.

There are 3 versions of this activity: A, B and C which are in order of difficulty.

• the first sheet (A) shows 20 dolphins to color in and there is only one line of numbers to trace
• the second sheet (B) also shows 20 dolphins which need to be shaded along with 20 circles and one line of numbers to trace
• the 3rd sheet (C) is similar to the second sheet but has three lines of numbers to trace.

You have to complete 5 lines of each number.

There are two versions:
