Parts of a Circle Worksheets

We have a set of 4 different worksheets to help you learn the parts of a circle. There is also a printable cheat sheet which includes a diagram and definitions for you to print.

Using these sheets will help your child to:

  • identify and name the different parts of a circle
  • know the definitions for the different parts of a circle

Parts of a Circle Diagram

  • Radius - a straight line from the center of the circle to the edge.
  • Diameter - a straight line from one side of the circle to the other, going through the center of the circle.
  • Circumference - the outside of the whole circle (the perimeter of the circle).
  • Tangent - a line outside the circle which touches the circle at one point on the edge.
  • Arc - part of the outside of the circle.
  • Sector - an area of the circle enclosed by two radii.
  • Chord - a straight line starting at one point on the circle and ending at another point on the circle.
  • Segment - an area of the circle enclosed by a chord.
  • Secant - a line outside the circle which goes through the circle touching it in two places, creating a chord.

Parts of a Circle Worksheets

These parts of a circle sheets have been graded by level of difficulty.

Sheet 1 involves naming the following parts:

  • radius
  • diameter
  • circumference
  • sector
  • arc
  • chord

Sheet 2 involves naming all the parts of the circle

Sheet 3 involves selecting the correct word for each definition and then filling in the missing labels on the diagram.

The following printables contain nets of common 3D shapes that your child should know. Each net sheet is available both with and without tabs to aid sticking together.

  • recognise different 2d shapes inside the 3d shapes;
  • construct a 3d shape from a net;
