Thanksgiving Math Puzzles

We have a range of math puzzles created with a Thanksgiving theme suitable from first grade up to 5th Grade.

Our worksheets include codebreakers, picture value puzzles and arithmetic symbol puzzles.

Have a go at our Thanksgiving picture puzzles which involve finding the values of the different symbols.

We also have some Thanksgiving arithmetic symbol puzzles where you have to use your reasoning and arithmetic skills to find the values of all the symbols.

Here are some of the skills that our puzzle sheets help to develop:

• addition and subtraction facts to 10 and 20;
• multiplication facts to 5x5 or 10x10;
• use reasoning skills to find missing values;

The pages have been split up into several different sections:

• the first section contains our codebreaker worksheets;
• the second section contains our picture puzzle worksheets;
• the third section contains our arithmetic symbol value sheets;

There are two types of worksheets:

• the easier worksheets involve adding the values of the symbols to find the total of each row and column
• the harder worksheets involve using the totals of each row to find the value of each of the Thanksgiving symbols.

To work out the solution to these puzzles, you have to use your reasoning skills.

You are given different symbols in an equation and you have to work out the values of each of the symbols and also the missing totals.

Sheet 3A is easier and has 4 symbols to find.

Sheet 3B is more challenging and involves a wider range of values and has 5 picture symbols.

We have a range of different color by number sheets with a thanksgiving theme.

Each Thanksgiving picture is available in lots of different formats.

• color by number 0 to 9, 10 to 19 and 20 to 29
• addition facts within 10
• subtraction facts to 10
• addition and subtractions within 10
