With most speeds like miles per hour, the higher the number, the faster you are going.
But this is not the case with minutes per mile!

Who is traveling faster?
Tyger takes 4 minutes to travel a mile, but Captain only takes 3 minutes to travel a mile, so Captain is traveling faster.
How to convert miles per hour to minutes per mile
To convert an amount from Miles per Hour to Minutes per Mile, you just need to divide 60 by the number of miles per hour.
In other words:
This is because 60 miles per hour = 1 minute per mile.
1) Convert 12 miles per hour into minutes per mile.
To convert from mph into minutes per mile we need to divide 60 by the number of miles per hour.
60 ÷ 12 = 5
So 12 mph = 5 minutes per mile.
2) How many minutes per mile is 2 mph?
To convert from mph into minutes per mile we need to divide 60 by the number of miles per hour.
60 ÷ 2 = 30
So 2 miles per hour is the same as 30 minutes per mile.
3) Tyger runs at a speed of 8 miles per hour. How many minutes per mile will he average at this speed?
To convert from mph into minutes per mile we need to divide 60 by the number of miles per hour.
60 ÷ 8 = 7.5
So he would average 7.5 minutes per mile.
4) A racing car travels at a speed round a track of 145 miles per hour. How many minutes per mile would this be?
To convert from mph into minutes per mile we need to divide 60 by the number of miles per hour.
60 ÷ 145 = 0.41 (to 2dp)
So the car would be travelling at 0.41 minutes per mile to 2dp.
